Dirty, loud (night shift is unnaturally loud at desk, laughing, yelling) can't rest,, 1 assistant for whole floor. Doesn't feel like a hospital but a urgent care. If you need anything serious done they pawn you off on other hospitals. manager Amy is rude and doesnt listen to problems well, she does her own thing.

It's common talk in Howell to just go to Ann Arbor of its anything serious and believe me I agree. After many many horror stories which would be too long to write I just decided to tell about my latest encounter yesterday and today. I just went through the emergency with a client of mine and he was treated wonderfully and everyone was fantastic, but when he was admitted to a room, it was awful!!! The nurse kept saying she didn't know what was going on, she was only the "middleman" trying to keep everyone happy. Who says that?! Every simple question I asked she was very denfensive saying "it wasn't her call or she didn't know" and said "doctors sometimes talk to other doctors and leave the nurses out of the loop" she was clearly stressed out and said "at night there's no staff and she runs around like crazy and can't remember all her patients but she tries." Really?? Then my clients towel was wet from ice he had and she put a blanket on him that was still dirty and had tape and adhesive stuck all up and down the blanket. She was too busy to get another blanket so I went to the linen door and she threw one to me and said "thank you! Just throw the other one in the dirty linens bin." When it came time to change the client, I had to assist her. Wow... Then I called today and got a nice receptionist and she transferred me to a nurse and she picked up and said she was on rounds and she really didn't know what was going on with my client and she would know more after rounds and call back in an hour. She said "some man was just here asking lots of questions, so if you guys could just have one person call to ask how he's doing, that would be great. I said that was the Pastor of our church who was there and his son lives out of state and I'm his caregiver. She still asked for only one person to call to check on this wonderful 86 year old retired Pastor who had just had a stroke and couldn't talk on the phone!!! What is wrong with these nurses?! Please, if it's something serious, just head to Ann Arbor. I've had many health problems and I've never been disappointed with Ann Arbor.

OKAY FOLKS. I have been one of the many patrons of Howell to talk badly about this hospital. I am 25 with very serious kidney issues and 2 years post transplant back in renal failure. I ALWAYS drive to Ann Arbor for my needs. This past week however, I was in extremely rough shape and very symptomatic, basically incapable of making the 30-40 minute trip to U of M. So I ended up dragging myself into St. Joe’s Livingston’s emergency room. 5 minutes later I was in the waiting room when a nurse called me back (skipping triage) and rushed me into a room immediately where I was met by another nurse and a doctor. Dr. Kim Smith. 5 minutes after that, I had a properly placed I.V. and medication for my symptoms. It was incredible. I explained that I was not there for a diagnosis and just needed HELP. Dr. Smith completely understood and listened to my needs as an experienced patient. I was out of there after I woke up from the medication induced nap and on my way home feeling almost 100% better. Slept in my own bed and woke up the next day feeling extremely thankful. My mind has been changed after this experience with St. Joe’s and Dr. Smith. Good work!

I'll be glad when U of M and providence are built. Until then I'm going right to a hospital that can actually do their job.

When a broken down man whom recently learned he was homeless goes into a hospital sobbing, trembling holding his heart because the pain he has been enduring (physically, mentally, and spiritual) is so difficult. Not one person has the compassion, love, and care in which we all deserve, can literally treat people like the way I was treated late Wednesday night. I really hope and urge people to tread lightly with the people in this place.

It smells bad, takes forever for consult, cleanliness is not a priority. Fine for a broken leg, but for anything in need of a specialist, drive to U of M. Nurses were friendly.
