Brighton Rec area is beautiful but not without its issues.
Finding a way to get rid of garbage when staying in cabins was a challenge. We had to drive it to the dumpster at the beach.
My parents cabin, cabin 3, had bats and when we reported them they said 'oh still there hey?' They did refund all nights.
Great park lots of trails ,5 different lakes for fishing ,disk golf course ,swimming area with inflatables ,cabins to rent ,2 campground rustic and modern
I can’t attest to the campgrounds, but the trails are great for hiking and Hunting. I shoot a deer out here every year without bait. Just find an active game trail and wait. Good for squirrel hunting in the right areas.
Great area for hiking, biking, swimming, paddling, and camping. Campground was clean. Sites near us were spacious. Showers were clean, but water was not very hot, and it came out too hard Our only complaints about the campground -- fire pits are too big (didn't have a cooking grate that fit all the way across) and non-stop barking dogs. All in all, a very nice area for recreation!
The beach inflatables were 15$ for 45 minutes so unfortunately we had to say no.
The cabins are also very dark. We needed lights even during the day. There is no power so our solar lamps were tested. More skylights in them would be very helpful.
Very pretty place, nice hiking trails. Just missing some better human determined service and support.
The fire pit at cabin 1 was so full we had our fire at the top of it with no wind protection.
I've visited this recreational area mainly for the hiking trails. The trails are very well maintained and provide a good challenge, especially when running on them. Multiple routes are provided so you can choose the distance you want to to go. My only gripe is that some of the trails involve using a dirt road that cars travel on.
Some of the park staff we encountered were not very pleasant. We really had a hard time finding our way around initially.
